If you have a spare penny…

Donating to charity can be a minefield. Some excellent websites exist which can help donors think through the issues involved, and guide their investment, three of my favourites being:

Good Intentions Are Not Enough

GiveWell

New Philanthropy Capital

We all have personal biases however, and these are some of mine; organisations, doing fantastic work, who if you do have a spare penny, or preferably several, would really value your support.

  • Forward – Safeguarding the health and rights of African women
  • Mali Health Organising Project Community health systems for slum areas in Bamako
  • The Anchor Project – working with London based unaccompanied asylum applicants aged 10 to 17 years old
  • LAMMP – supporting Latin American women and their communities in their campaign for human rights
  • Karen Human Rights Group documenting the human rights situation of people in rural Burma
